Learn how to jump on a trampoline, swing on the uneven bars, balance on the beam, hang upside-down on the rings and roll and tumble around the floor. Gymnastics is for everybody, no matter your age, size, or fitness level.

Pocket Rockets & Little Leapers

Pocket Rockets is a 45 minute class designed to introduce 3 to 5 years olds to the sport of gymnastics.

Little Leapers is an introductory one hour class for 4 to 5 year olds that prepares children for the recreational gym program for children aged 5 years and over.

Participants in both Pocket Rockets and Little Leapers are able to explore the world of gymnastics whilst building their confidence and motor skills. Your child will develop strength, coordination, body control, flexibility as well as life skills of resilience, taking turns and challenging themselves. Term 4 classes start week 1, from Tuesday 13 October 2020.

Boys Recreational Gymnastics

Boys Gymnastics will incorporate activities that will focus on male apparatuses including rings parallel bars; floor and vault. The boys group runs along side the Recreational Gymnastics class. Boys can attend any Recreational Gymnastics session, however we have specific boys groups held on Saturday mornings. Term 4 classes start week 1, from Saturday 17 October 2020.

Recreational Gymnastics

Classes are suitable for participants from 5 years of age, beginner or intermediate level. The gymnastic classes are great fun and children develop skills in jumping and landing, shapes, balance and coordination in addition to learning skills on a variety of equipment including:

  • uneven bars
  • floor
  • trampoline
  • beam
  • vault
  • parallel bars
  • rings

Recreation classes follow a certificate program, where children acquire a set of skills according to each level. Children are assessed throughout the term and will receive certificates for each apparatus passed, as well as for the completion of the entire stage. On completion of Stage 3 gymnasts have the option to train each week (75 min class) in Stage 4. From this class children progress to the Intermediate Program. Term 4 classes start week 1, from Tuesday 13 October 2020.

Intermediate Gymnastics

STARplex hosts an in-house competition each year for gymnasts training in the Intermediate, Junior Performance and Performance programs.

Intermediate (invitation only)

Children develop their strength, flexibility, fitness and learn aerial awareness as well as skills and routines. The program works on technique to ensure skills are developed correctly and safely. Skills acquired include:

  • cast back hip circles (bars)
  • round-offs and handsprings
  • handstand flat back (vault)
  • handstands on beam
  • back walk overs
  • front-saults (double mini trampoline)
  • Performance teams (invitation only)

Term 4 classes start week 1, from Friday 16 October 2020.

Intermediate - $264.00 (11 week term)
Friday – 5.15pm – 7.15pm
Saturday – 12.00pm – 2.00pm

Performance Teams

Gymnasts are selected from the Intermediate Program to train in the Junior Performance and Performance teams. Children train twice a week developing their flexibility, strength and fitness. Junior Performance and Performance are invitation only. Progression of skills include:

  • front saults (floor and beam dismount)
  • round off back handspring/back sault
  • kips (bars)
  • cartwheels/back walkovers on beam

Term 4 classes start week 1, from Friday 16 October 2020.
