The Royal Life Saving Society of Australia have released their drowning report for 2013/14. The result is better than the previous years with 266 people drowning (previous 2 years 291 & 284 respectively)…drowning’s were as follows:

• 34% in summer
• 23% in autumn
• 18% in winter
• 24% in spring
• There was a reduction of 11 drowning’s in the 0-4 age group
• There was an increase in the 15-24 age group of 12 deaths
• There was a reduction of 27 deaths in the 55+ age group

It is so vital for our children to learn this precious life skill and continue their learning all year.

The national SwimSAFER week and watch around water campaigns, which STARplex Swim Centre are proud to be associated with, are helping educate parents about watching your kids around water.
