PBT 2011 RESULTS
Our fourth consecutive year of running this popular program at STARplex Fitness Centre has once again been extremely successful.
Open to non-members, this year the program included 140 participants (more than 90% females) followed the advice of trainers on nutrition and training to achieve their goals in just 7 weeks. Final combined weight lost was 316kgs and a total of 1,566cm.
More than a weight loss competition, STARplex’s annual PUSH Body Transformation is designed to educate participants on safe, effective methods of improving health through one on one mentoring and expert dietary advice. Goal setting is a major focus of the competition as it ensured participants remained on-track throughout. Everyone involved noticed significant changes in their bodies with many delighted in the fact they had to purchase new clothes to show off their remarkable results.
Competition winners were Jarrod Palmer and Ros Pearson who displayed the most significant change in measurement and/or weight loss. Jarrod (lost 10 kgs and 31cm) was 3rd place in the SA PUSH PBT Awards recently, receiving a $100 gift voucher kindly donated by Vadoulis Plants (Gawler).
A regular gym goer, Jarrod was proud of his efforts and showed tremendous determination to reach his goals.
“Before the PBT I felt stale and that I had plateau with my training as I had no real goal. I also felt soft and doughy. Since the PBT I now feel full of energy and I feel much more confident and happy. My body is now lean and hard in appearance and I would have to say that I am the fittest that I have ever been.”
An office worker, Ros was most excited about her result (lost 6kgs and 33cm) stating:
“I wanted to join the PBT due to being overweight and unhealthy. My health problems put me at risk of heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis. By completing the PBT I have now taken a long overdue step on the road to wellness. I now feel fitter and stronger; my clothes now fit me better. During the PBT I have proven to myself that I can do things that I previously could not do. My trainer Kristy helped plan my weekly programs and kept my PT sessions interesting by varying them all the time. She was very encouraging and pushed me harder than I would have ever pushed myself.”
STARplex wishes to thanks the generous sponsors of prizes for award winners including, Redback Nutrition, Ministry of Hair (Gawler), Leading Edge Telecoms (Salisbury), NoodleBox (Gawler) and PecDeck Café.

Louise Skelton - Inspirational!
My biggest weakness was chips and wine
Chocolate and ice cream I would never decline
No time for the gym in my packed day
My busy life was in the way
But then I decided NOW must be MY time
If I didn’t act now, life overweight would be mine
So on a whim I signed up for the PBT
I needed to make a better version of me
I tried really hard to eat everything right
And very soon noticed my jeans were less tight
The classes were great, all of them
But my obsession quickly became RPM
At first I struggled to fit into the leg press machine
But after a while, as my body became lean
I could not only fit, I could push heavy weights
I felt really strong, maybe I had what it takes
My trainer believed we could do anything
She really wanted one of HER clients to win
She worked us so hard in our fun little class
To build muscles, get fit and attain a firm ….bottom
She made us do push-ups and burpees and squats
We often felt sore but didn’t want her to stop
For all of us knew that our bodies were changing
No pain could be too much for rewards this amazing
One step at a time, and little by little
You’ll notice a difference around your middle
It won’t all happen straight away
But set goals and work hard and you’ll be repaid
So let me tell all you dear ladies and gents
Signing up to the PBT will be effort well spent
You’ll make many new friends and you’ll wonder each day
How on earth you could ever have lived life the old way
You will soon enjoy eating your salad and greens
For your body will change and as you tune your machine
You’ll feel younger and fitter and stronger too
As you farewell the old you and celebrate the new
