Melanie Boschen – Dietitian

February 20, 2017

We are thrilled to welcome Melanie Boschen to the Wellness & Rehabilitation Clinic as an accredited practising Dietitian.

Melanie will join Amy Teasdale with the development and implementation of meal plan resources for clients involved with the current STARplex Reshape program. She will provide weekly Dietetic services, including individual dietary consults, at Modbury North Medical Centre and Craigmore Family Practice.

As part of recently completing her Masters of Dietetics (Uni of SA), Melanie did a three month clinical placement at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she gained experience implementing evidenced based nutritional care plans for patients presenting with a variety of medical conditions. Following this experience she completed her community and public health placement as part of the OPAL (Obesity Prevention and Lifestyle) program at the Civic Centre in Playford. Her project with OPAL included group education sessions on healthy lunchboxes for parents of children transitioning from home to school. Melanie also completed her food service placement at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where she worked to improve the diet kitchen meal production and special diet menus.

Melanie loves to garden, being active with others (including Ballroom Dancing – rock and roll, salsa, rumba and swing!) and to help others achieve a healthy lifestyle. She also loves cooking with fresh produce and visiting local markets for recipe inspiration. Apart from cooking and gardening Melanie has a 6 month old Bernese mountain dog (Lottie) who takes up the remainder of her spare time.

You will see more and more of Melanie over the coming months as we implement new programs and respond to the increasing need for dietary support in the community.
