Finding a Balance

As an active and healthy 40+ year old male, I have found a balanced approach to fitness to be the key to a strong body. This realisation has not come without hard learned mistakes. “Balance” requires a combination of a positive attitude to oneself, responsibility and self- love.
Years of punishing the body take its toll eventually. Pounding the body over hours or all-out quick fixes are both physically and mentally demanding and are most likely to end in disappointment!
The key is to keep the body in shape by organising it around family and work commitments. A strong body is reflected through a healthy mindset to exercise and nutrition. It is this balance or holistic approach which feeds the soul and is the blueprint for transforming your body. Stress relieving exercises and a health assessment are often the best place to begin your journey.
Identify unhealthy behaviours and start new improved habits such as following an eating plan with foods to avoid and ones to choose most often. This makes crash diets unnecessary. Employing an exercise maintenance program on a daily basis undoubtedly produces a “healthier version of you” and leads to a clean and lean life which decreases your chance of morbidity by as much as 50% in some cases.
Take out the guesswork of how to eat cleanly and exercise effectively by increasing your knowledge. Read articles on nutrition from respected sources, visit a dietician, work out with a qualified fitness professional and find the ideal exercise suited to your age and lifestyle.
The choice of exercise (recreational and sporting) is endless and so is the range of food we choose to eat. Self-love is showing a measure of control and responsibility based on a healthy mindset.
