Some might call it insane, for these guys it's a way of life
STARplex Personal Trainers Clayton Siviour, Wade Lack, & Sam Cryer, have found a new hobby. The trio have been pushing their bodies to the absolute limit in preparation for the Australian Regional Crossfit Championships, held in Sydney, where they hope to make the top 3 (team or individual) who will head to Carson, California, in July.
To secure a spot in the Regional Crossfit Championship, Sam, Wade and Clayton had to make the top 60, from over 800 competitors in the open male category at sectionals.
Sam was the best placed individual achieving 38th and securing a spot in the Regional competition. Wade and Clayton were selected to compete in the crossfit Adelaide team at Regionals.
Clayton, Wade & Sam leave for Sydney on the 27th May, make sure you wish them luck!
Go for it guys!
So what is Crossfit?
Crossfit is a general physical strengthening and conditioning program which focusses on weightlifting, gymnastics and aerobic conditioning.
Crossfit’s programming works on developing your 10 general physical skills these being strength, cardio respiratory endurance, stamina, speed, power, flexibility, co-ordination, agility, accuracy, and balance. Developing these skills increases your overall fitness level, enabling you to take on whatever challenges life throws at you.
The crossfit programs is completely scaleable. Meaning load and intensity can be modified, with the program staying the same. This means crossfit is the perfect program for ALL fitness levels, and is often incorporated into our group fitness programs.
Why do you do it?
Sam -
I like the mental & physical aspect of crossfit, I love how your character is under question every time you workout.
Wade - I do crossfit to test myself and see how far I can push my body and mind. I love that no workout is ever the same and what I am doing is preparing me to face any challenges in life. In the back of my mind going into every workout I know it’s me against myself and that pushing my body past the limits I will become stronger and fitter. In the past year I have also approached crossfit with a new outlook and that is to incorporate my family in to crossfit and train with them and teach my son that crossfit and training is a way of life
Clayton - Because you never know what’s coming in life. We need to train for anything and everything. I love the high intensity training and the challenge within every workout I do.
